Under A Full Moon by Roger Townsend

It’s a full moon tonight

I feel full of dread

I’m on the late shift

So I can’t go to bed

Better get myself ready

My fear doesn’t lessen

Put my uniform on

Must make an impression

I peer in the mirror

Face white as a sheet

Straighten my tie

I’m looking quite neat

I fill up my flask

Better get going

Traffic will be busy

It will not be flowing

I’ve arrived at work

There’s a man on the gate

“You’d best hurry up,

 “You’re gonna be late

They’re restless tonight,

“I expect you know why”

“Yeah I’ve seen it glimmering

Up in the sky”

I’ve just signed in

Must report to the floor

Go through the entrance

Then lock up the door

My first day on the job

 I had better hurry

I feel quite tense

 I am starting to worry

I look through the window

See lights shining quite bright

Broadmoor looks quite pleasant

 Lit up in the night.”
